On on afternoon walk, I came across a thoroughly protested-against Gaz de France-office. It was spray-painted and postered, although someone had scrubbed the sidewalk to try to get the paint off.
The French government, if I have understood everything correctly, is trying to merge the government-owned company Gaz de France, and, which deals in natural gas, with the private company SUEZ-Electrabel. Basically, they are trying to sell off large chunks of public utilities, but are running into stiff opposition from trade unions.
