This is the recumbent effigie of Ann Baron Grey of Groby (c 1614). She can be found in the small cold chapel at the Bradgate Park mansion ruins where she lies in eternal sleep with her husband Henry as the tourists file past.
As you can see I awoke her....
The eyes are obviously modded (they're Lou's) but the alabaster's cracked texure and graffiti is real. The constrast has been whacked up to bring that out and a salt and pepper filter applied to remove to of the resulting artefacts.
It's odd that the nose has worn away - makes her look a bit unhuman.
You might find the treatment spooky... or maybe you'll think it looks like a Terry Gilliam cartoon - I can't decide which. ;o)

p.s. If I'm wrong about her name or the date or if anyone has a link to any information about her I'd be grateful if you'd let me know!
