What better way to have Penrose Tiles in your home than with actual tiles! It's a coffee table instead of, say, a bathroom floor - a wise compromise between my wife and I for my first tiling project ever.

The coffee table is not mine. But I chose the tile-design and embedded the hand-cut tiles myself and then restained the table.

Penrose tiles have fascinating mathematical properties. I could go on about them for quite some time. I won't. I will say this though: Such tilings were believed to have been discovered in the 1970's until this month when researchers have discovered 500+ year old such patterns in Islamic Mosques. The take-away lesson for photographers: there's nothing new under the sun
