In this collection of images I decided to explore the beauty within decay and death. I used 120mm black and white film to capture a feeling of solitude and forgetfulness. I also used color film to contrast the old and new, decay and beauty.
I get goose bumps whenever I walk into a cemetery, and for me this is the only way of looking at this place differently. Appreciating all its antique sculptures, this is the oldest cemetery in a town called Manati in Puerto Rico. Built originally by the Spanish. Many important families, politicians and artists were buried here. The oldest tomb is from the 1800s.
The photographs here are a simple reminder that there is beauty in death. I wanted to work on this for a long time now, I finally got the chance to do this.
