Artist's Statement
I take photos because I want to show people the world as I see it, and sometimes, as I would like to see it. For me, photography is about learning to see the world.
I choose a variety of different subjects for my pictures, and I enjoy exploring flora, landscapes and portraits-- often, I find myself getting in close to my subject, but at other times, stepping back from it provides a refreshing change. I don't limit myself to colour, or black and white-- I use what seems most appropriate at the time.
For the Utatan I have chosen to expand my portrait skills with a series of self-portraits: mostly due to the fact that I have no other models who are willing to wait around until I've got the shot I want, and partly due to a little bit of narcissism.
