Lori Hale Williams

Lori Hale is a Southern gal who loves to travel; she's lived in Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, California, and Paris, France. She works as a marine biologist and lives at the beach, which is as cool as it sounds. Lori shoots as a hobby, but takes photography very seriously.

Lori is a moderator and all around mediator and cleaner-upper of threads for the Utata group on Flickr.

Artist's Statement

I am an amateur photographer that stumbled upon photography as a happy accident. I am a marine biologist by trade, so find myself photographing nature and the ocean most frequently, but have gradually become more interested in other facets of photography. These interests often bloomed as I learned more about photography itself. I am still very much a student.
I often take pictures of what is around me, but recently have been using myself as a model for more conceptual portraits. I enjoy traveling and like to use my camera to capture aspects of a place that I find unique and exciting, which might be of interest to others. And of course, I often take pictures of pretty things such as butterflies, flowers, kitties, puppies, and sunsets.
My participation in The Utatan is both a representation of my larger body of work as well as a new exercise in photography for me. These theme contributions are examples of where I would like to go next with my photography.
