Old enough to know better, yet still amazed at how much I still have to learn. Anyway...
I've done music, I've done photography, I've done painting and collages... Photography is the thing I've done the longest. It is also probably the simplest of these things to do on a regular basis - especially since decent digital cameras have become widely available and relatively inexpensive.
I am also currently studying graphic design.
As far as subject matter goes, well, I tend to be attracted to moods, impressions, and the abstract. There are those who would insist that a photograph tell a story; while that is a perfectly valid approach, I think it also unfairly limits the artform, or at least the viewer's appreciation of the image in question. I see no problems with capturing textures or moods instead of situations (real or implied). After all, appreciation of art is subjective, regardless of how authoritative the voice telling you what it should or should not be.
That said, I am always open to new ideas, whether in the form of new subject matter, or new ways to look at things I already know.
