I live in Surrey, UK and work from an office in North London for a not-for-profit organisation. I'm lucky in that I get to travel for work to different parts of the country and sometimes abroad.
I'm married with 3 children. My youngest son died earlier this year.
My photographs are mainly of family, my travels, work events, walks in the city and countryside, and more recently, self-portraits. Utata projects have led to me experimenting more.
I like to experiment and try out different things. There's no one particular type of photography or creativity that I want to focus on exclusively. There's so much to experiment with, so many creative possibilities, .... so much to do, so little time!
My first cameras were Russian SLRs. I used to like to take black and white photos and develop them myself. Ah, I remember the smell of chemicals and the excitement of a darkened room with a red light and the image slowly appearing on the paper in the dish! Now I have a compact digital held together with tape that I take everywhere with me. And a digital SLR with a couple of lenses that I use mainly when I go out with the specific intention of taking photos. Many of my photos are taken outdoors because another pleasure for me is to go walking, in the countryside or city, and to explore my environment.
I sometimes use bibble and sometimes photoshop. However I usually prefer photos that have not been processed much in the computer. Having said that, I'm trying to develop my photoshop skills. When I get better I'll probably change my mind!
For the last 18 months my life has been dominated by the illness and then death of my teenage son from cancer. This is reflected in some of my recent work in that I have tried to use photography and self-portraiture to express some of my feelings.
