I have always been interested in photography. Current cameras are Canon 350D replaced by the Canon 40D. I like taking landscapes, trees and having a go at anything else.

I also paint, sketch a great deal, read and I teach IT so I spend a lot of time with computers and software.

Artist's Statement

I have always loved photography and painting. I try to create images that show the world that I explore. I am always seeking fresh insights into this world whether it be landscapes, portraits or events. I am a scientist and computer champion by training although I have studied photography through the Open College of Arts and attended various art and photography courses.

I try to work with the light and composition to find new ways of showing off the natural world. Both sketching/painting and photography make me look more closely at nature and this is my inspiration that drives me on. When I capture an image in a new way it gives me a great feeling of satisfaction. I enjoy travel, especially to Southern Africa where I lived and taught for a couple of years in Botswana. The landscapes and natural life of this area figures a great deal in my work.

I have long wanted to undertake a photo story assignment in Africa and a trip to South Africa was the focus of my interpretation of the Safari. To try to reflect some of the feelings and images of a safari trip without focussing excessively on the animals. I hope you enjoy it.
