Bill Jones

Photographer, best friend, poet, writer, life coach, mentor, program manager, and a few other things I don't talk about. Got my first camera at age 12, but was in love with photography long before that.

I experiment with various forms of photography, but especially street photography, nature, and portraiture. My photography is by the set, not by the photo. I don't go for the "big bang". I leave that to studios and Hasselblads. I photograph life. Simply, and honestly.

I hope you travel with me.

Artist's Statement

My love of photography was a natural outcome of my development as a person. It grew from watching my family "photo-journalists" (my grandfather and great uncle) who captured family life as it was. There were no great moments captured, just the small ones that mattered. These were the moments I wanted to find as well.

My focus is on the composition of the shot. My goal is simply to find the details that are often overlooked... to bring the viewer into the shot with me, and stop, where they would normally have passed by.

Ultimately, my work is about emotional content. As much as I love photography, I will almost certainly never be as good at it as I am at writing. My work is meant to taken in total. The pictures dance with the words. The poems sing of the sights. Together, they are the world as I have seen it.
