Freeman Patterson
(b at Long Ranch, NB September 25th 1937) Freeman Patterson is a Canadian photographer and photography writer, best known for his unparallel ability to evoke the seemingly endless qualities of nature through his work. Patterson has authored numerous books on photographic techniques, including Photography for the Joy of It (1967), Photography and the Art of Seeing (1979) and Photography of Natural Things (1982) as well. In more recent years, Patterson has authored books centered on capturing nature and it's beauty, such as Namaqualand: Garden of the Gods (1984), Portraits of Earth (1987), In a Canadian Garden (1989), The Last Wilderness: Images of the Canadian Wild (1990) and One Planet, One Man (1994). In 2001 along with Andre Gallant, Patterson authored Photo Impressionism and The Subjective Image - a book, which perfectly depicts both the genius and innovation of Patterson's work.
