Shot for a Utata tagging project (utata_still_life)
In order to shoot this project, I set up a tripod on top of my desk with a flash gun firing directly down on top of the products. I was too lazy to soften or diffuse the lighting. It's pretty harsh with a fair number of reflections. A single flash gun was used triggered by radio.
The products themselves, are sitting on top of a lightbox I use when looking at slides and negatives, with a loup. When the lightbox is turned on, it emits a daylight balanced 5400*K light source. When a flash is fired directly at it, they cancel each other out, giving a fully lighted scene with practically no shadow at all. I suspect the flash colour temperature is slightly different than the lightbox, or I didn't expose properly, since in the actual product shots, I can make out a slight shadow given off by the flash.
