Whenever I visit someone's home for the first time, I like to look at the bookshelves.
More than by a person's home, more than by the furniture, more than by his or her clothing or even music, I strongly believe that you can tell a lot about a person by looking at that person's book collection.

If they don't have a book collection, that tells a lot about a person too.
