One of the themes of this week's walk was "memory lane." Benn had to do some computer work at Emperor Divers, our former employers, so I wandered around greeting old friends and snapping photos.
Just about any muscle tone I have comes from carrying these things around. Twelve liter aluminum tanks (as above), when full, weigh about 33 pounds (15 kg), and with one in each hand, I'm hauling half my body weight. The crates are usually filled with customer equipment, which is not too bad when dry, but heavy when wet, and even heavier when people accidentally put their weights in the box (grumble grumble).
When you're paying to dive, instead of getting paid for it, you can generally sit back and let someone else carry all this around for you. I'll tell you, though, I was in much better shape back in my instructing days than I am now.
