The truth is, there is absolutely no good reason for this photo's existence. It's not socially relevant. Has no aesthetic or technical value. I haven't learned anything. It's not even humorous.
Sometimes, I really wish there was a physical artifact received for every digital photo taken. Something more than the abstractness of megabytes.
The carbon footprint. That's what I'd love to see on my LCD for each photo snapped: a little incrementing bar. The energy is minimal, but still.
Maybe what I should have is something like a wasted timeline -- a way of reminding me that I should have been doing something better with my time.
At least with film there are things like cost and physical space to keep me in check. With digital, there is nothing. The slightest bit of idle time and what? Blam-O, a picture of a ceramic chicken.
And I gotta live with that!
