The Speeches of Abraham Lincoln

Tom Atwell

On October 16, 1854 Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas had a seven hour debate on the steps of the Peoria courthouse. Lincoln's three hour speech is considered by many as one of his defining moments.

This bronze statue was unveiled on October 14, 2001 in commemoration of that debate. Although this is not the original courthouse, it is on the same block as the original in Peoria, IL.

There was a documentary movie made in 1990 called The Speeches of Abraham Lincoln. If it were made today this stature could very well be in it.

This picture was taken for the Documentary category of the Utata Goes To The Movies project.

Bowling For Columbine

Chris Rock: You don't need no gun control. You know what you need? Bullet control. I think all bullets should cost $5000. You know why? If a bullet cost $5000 there'd be no more innocent bystanders.
