River South

Away down the river,
A hundred miles or more,
Other little children
Shall bring my boats ashore.

- Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894)

The south end of the river is busy. Marinas, freight docks, working boats, and ferries line the shore. To enter the bay by boat, we must travel down the river and pass the hectic business area. Once in the bay, we see fisherman. Across the bay is Fire Island and the Atlantic Ocean. We make this trip often to fish, swim or watch the sunset.

In my imagination I am connected to the world. The river, then the bay and ocean, is an extension of my backyard. It connects me to all oceans and people; I am connected to the global community and love where I live.
