Two bored friends
Once upon a time there were two friends, Baby Beanie Monkey and Puppy Labrador. They were best friends. Every day during the summer holidays Puppy would come to Baby Beanie’s house to play.
On one hot summer’s day the two friends were very bored. “We’ve got nothing to do,” Baby complained to Mummy Beanie Monkey. “Can’t we go out somewhere exciting for the day?”
Mummy Beanie Monkey told Baby Beanie and Puppy that if they behaved themselves they could visit their favourite place to play, Garden Henge. They were so excited, and they promised that they would be very good.
Garden Henge, a very old wooden monument, was a special place for them to visit. There were lots of fun games that they could play around all those old timber structures. And they could make up stories about what might have happened at Garden Henge many years ago. Garden Henge was a very mysterious place. No-one knew who had built it, or how long ago it had been built, and there were all kinds of stories told about strange things that happened at Garden Henge at night.
So Mummy Beanie Monkey packed up a lunch for them to take, because she knew that Baby and Puppy would get very thirsty and hungry with all their running around. Eventually they were ready to go. The three of them climbed into the car, and off they went. It was very hot in the car, and they were all glad when they saw Garden Henge in the distance. They began by having a drink, and then they played hide and seek around the Henge, while Mummy sat in the shade.
