Baby starts to climb

When they got a bit tired from running around, they would sit down leaning against one of the wooden pillars and tell stories to each other about what they imagined had happened at Garden Henge many years ago. If there were prizes given for who could tell the scariest story, Puppy would win. It was a good job that Mummy Beanie Monkey had fallen asleep, or she would have been worried that her two charges would have bad dreams that night.

Baby Beanie Monkey didn’t want to be outdone by his young friend, and, as he was a bit of a show off, he decided that he was going to show Puppy how good he was at climbing. “Look, Puppy,” he said, “I can climb higher than you.” And he reached up his arms and started to pull himself up onto one of the wooden arches, until his legs were dangling off the ground.

“Please be careful,” Puppy called. “That doesn’t look very safe to me.” He thought about waking Mummy Beanie Monkey up, but decided against telling tales on his friend.

“It’s fine,” said Baby. ‘Why don’t you come climbing up here as well.” But Puppy knew that with his short legs he wouldn’t be able to pull himself up like Baby could.
