Glastonbury Tor from Lollover Hill
For centuries the Isle of Avalon in Somerset England has cast a spell upon those who behold it. There exists seemingly endless miles of low, grassy meadows, in a land which was once covered by a low-lying sea and brackish marshes. The lushness is punctuated by hills whose names and ancient symbolism are obscured by time and enlarged by legend.
In this image, we see the Glastonbury Tor in the distance, with its tower visible. It's just after sunrise, but the clouds and spray obscure the sun. It's Beltane morn- May 1, the time of the year when the coming of summer and the richness of the earth's fertility are joyously celebrated.
While we observe and explore this summer-land, this land which is still feels watery and mystical, we are transported. It's not by accident that the magical, ethereal calm is green.
