Intimacy and music are knowing friends. In this snug image from The 10 cent designer, guitar strings stretch like webbed light from the fingers of an unseen musician. We don’t hear the music, but it infuses the frame with warmth and motion. We see comfort, safety, the solid glow of the blond wood, an ease to the playing. We loved it instantly, and it was a swift pick for the Thursday 3.
As it happens, what our Utata imaginations brought to the picture wasn’t far from the truth of it. “The photo is of my fiance Ken playing a very good improvisational tune,” the designer tells us. “I liked his tune. I was making up words as he played.” If music be the food of love… – Linus Gelber
