Irina Souiki

Pony Cowboy

This photograph reminds me of every county fair I ever went to – it brings back the smell of cotton candy and the breathless joy of the rides that go way too fast and something else … the Carnies. When I was a girl I wanted to BE a Carnie; run away with the circus. Every human being I have ever known who worked long with animals, especially horses, had this look to them – a profound kindness and a special sort of wisdom. Irina caught something here – something that’s important to notice, and important to record.
