Before The Movie

A theatre is a little like a dream; edged in darkness, uncertainty and anticipation. Eugene Ionescoi once said, “One can dare anything in the theatre” and, indeed, we expect and applaud this sentiment. Once we sit in the thick, plush seats and surrender ourselves to the dark-edges, we no longer expect perfect reality and nothing surprises us. In the reverent hush as the curtain goes up, if you listen carefully, I expect you will hear a dream or two as it escapes into the beneficent light.
