Going barefoot…it just means you’ve taken off your shoes. Being barefooted, though, is an attitude. The people in this photograph are barefooted.

There is something playful about these pale, vulnerable feet on that lush palette of cool grass. When we shed our shoes and go barefooted, we also shed our years. We are liberated from the shackles of adult convention and propriety. We become children again, trusting and innocent. We celebrate our barefooted innocence in an orgy of toe-wriggling.
