Foreshadowing

There is only one ocean, and standing beside it is humbling. The ocean reminds us that the world is large and enduring, and humankind is small and transitory. We refer to the Atlantic and the Pacific, to the Indian Ocean and the Artic…but they’re all the same world ocean. They all share the same water, they all share the same constant motion, they’re all deceptively beautiful.

There is only one ocean. From the level of the human eye there is no metric for comprehending its scale. It seems to go on forever, always restless, always dangerous, always beautiful. The beauty of the ocean draws us to it regardless of the danger.

There is only one ocean. It was here before we arrived and will be here after we’re gone, still in constant motion, still beautiful. Always, always beautiful.
