Gathering
Om’nium Gath’erum. This is a “dog Latin” term for a gathering or collection of all sorts of persons and things; a miscellaneous gathering together without regard to suitability or order. At a cocktail party this might prove troublesome but in the world of photography such events are “photographum opportunitums”, to stay in the mode.
We know they’re Inanimate, of course. We know this one is not really standing there with an “oh really” hand on her hip and that other one is not wiping a delicate cucumber sandwich crumb from her fingertips. We know they are not talking about the latest political scandal or dress style or Boof Of The Month Club selection. They’ve been made into archetypes, these mannequins, gathered in an open window where we can survey them with artful detachment .. wishing we’d been walking by that window ourselves with a camera around our necks.
