There is a romance between water and light. Not a bright burning passion, but a gentler sort of attachment. The relaxed and easy relationship of old, hand-holding lovers comfortable in each other’s presence. That quiet, smile-making sort of devoted affection that brings a brightness to the day when you’re lucky enough to witness it.
It seems delicate…and in a way, it is. The slightest ripple changes everything. Yet the delicacy belies an underlying constancy, a steadfastness that allows the relationship to outlast any ripple, any swirling wave, any tidal force that threatens it.
We can learn a lot from water and light.
