Ten Directions
The wind carries the prayers upward. All prayer rises, of course, as if thought and whispers are lighter than air. Western prayer is efficient; from your lips directly to God’s ear in a tidy straight line. But the wind…who can say where the wind goes? Who knows what serendipitous paths are traveled by wind-borne prayers?
Perhaps the wind will detour through some trees and mix the prayers with the whispers of leaves. Maybe a short digression through town where they’ll push around some scruffy scraps of paper. Or dawdle long enough to ruffle some balding man’s comb-over.
No rush. They’ll get there soon enough, let them enjoy the journey.
