The Other Side

You can find waves in the shallowest of pools the photographer wrote under this image. It is a compelling argument for photography itself … who has yet to see the thing which has no story, no secrets, no angle from which a new perspective cannot be extracted by the patient, clever photographer?

Life is lived in fragments; our memories and photographs are like tiles we make lovingly by hand and form into mosaics that tell our stories and share our experiences. We have only that one small square of sensor, that one 4:3 frame of opportunity and we are often tempted to turn the lense to the “big picture” or try to tell the whole story. Much like we don’t like to travel without maps, love without promise or risk without guarantee, we are often afraid to take pictures of the “shallow pool”, for fear that you won’t see the waves.

But you can find waves in the shallowest of pools. It’s absolutely true.
