The Backyard Jump

Although they concluded, at the end of World Jump Day, that no permanent change had been effected, I must say the results, nay the notion!, were … uplifting.

Most of us start our jumping careeers early in life, hanging onto the sides of cribs and bouncing up off the tips of tiny little toes – but we soon progress. To beds and trampolines we take our restless feet and in giddy excitement with clapping hands and in frustration with knit brows we tend to go … vertiical with our physical emotion.

We jump up and down in glee, excitement, anticipation and anger; perhaps our souls crave occassional weightlessness as the price of their earthly burdens. In any case, jumping will remind you – if not of the moments you hung onto the side of the crib and bounced on your teeny, tiny toes then of the moments alike to them … when you didn’t have a care in the world except landing … hopefully on your feet.

I recommend that everyone jump at least once today.
