Ah, art
is fro-
zen Zen.

So wrote Jonathon Williams, publisher-poet-essayist-photographer and founder of The Jargon Society. It’s no coincidence that ‘photographer’ is included in that list. His short poem is possibly the most concise description of the intersection of art and photography. It’s also the perfect, pithy description of this image.

Part of the art of art is recognizing it when you create it. There are moments…and we all have experienced them…when all the slippery elements of consciousness graft onto the coppery density of technology and in some weird synaptic-synoptic moment create something totally unexpected and consummately beautiful.

How easy to dismiss it as merely an accident, and how wrong. This image is the perfect conjuction of glass and grey matter, born of instinct as much as gadgetry. This is frozen zen.
