President George Bush should climb a tree. His Holiness, the Dalai Lama should climb a tree. Osama bin Laden should climb a tree. Angelina Jolie should climb a tree. You should climb a tree. I should climb a tree. I really should climb a tree.
Climbing a tree gives us a different perspective on the world. It reminds us of the critical importance of balance. It reinforces the consequence of touch and refreshes our understanding of the weight of wind. Climbing a tree brings back old memories. It creates new memories.
Will it solve your problems, or make you a better person? Will it provide answers to your questions? Will it give you wisdom? Maybe. Probably not. But for a little while it will let you be twelve years old. That may not be wisdom, but it ain’t bad.
