There is no true border between Whimsy and Practicality. There is instead a sort of no-man’s land. Rather, there is a “no-adults” land. That peculiar frontier is primarily the province of children.
In that special territory it makes perfect sense to wear pink Wellingtons with a green fairy princess skirt (and make no mistake…despite the lack of a tiara, this is a princess). In such a place it is imperative, of course, to go hurtling down the corkscrew slide, but a fairy princess must be wise enough to keep one tiny hand prepared to put on the brakes. And if she chooses to wear pajama pants with her striped sweater, it is her royal prerogative; she is equally prepared to play or sleep, depending on her whim.
It is a glorious place, the land between Practicality and Whimsy. Children can live there. Adults can only obtain a temporary visa to pass through. Fortunately, we can take photographs of our visit.
