It’s tricky to define the elements of a good party, but you know one when you’re there: if all the complex alchemy between people and place comes together, you begin to approach that wonderful feeling of being an effortless adventurer, traveling languidly from the continent of one conversation to another. Every fragment of dialogue is like the edge of a new island, floating jewel-like in a warm azure sea of laughter and sweet libations.
At a good party, no matter how tiny the space, two people standing shoulder to shoulder can each be embarking on a different odyssey.One voyager holds a bottle in her hand to break against her ship; the other gazes off into the wide horizon.
