Summer Flash

When I was a boy my grandfather told me the story of the Lia Fáil, a magical stone brought to Ireland from the mythical city of Fáilias by the Tuatha Dé Danann. The stone, it was said, would shout out in joy when the rightful King of Ireland trod on it. How the stone could identify the one person in all of Ireland who was destined to wear the crown was a mystery my grandfather never explained. But the world, he told me, was full of such stones, stones with untold or unknown supernatural properties. All a person had to do was find one.

We’ve found one here.

I don’t know if the stone is calling the storm to her, or if it’s calling the sun to ward off the storm…and I’m not sure it matters. What matters is that in all the wide world the right person has found the right stone, and she’s released the magic in it.
