Dude. It’s like the marriage of Mark Rothko and Henry Gibson, the union of abstract high art with the low comedy of Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In. Those massive great slabs of color echo Rothko as he announced to post-war Europe that America is also capable of great conceptual art. And that puckish hippie of a daisy almost mocks those serious, monolithic blocks of color.

Dude, this is like a time machine, revealing the transition from the 1950s to the 1960s. Those bright bricks of color could be America…amber waves of grain under an innocent blue sky, over which floats the empty inky darkness of space waiting to be explored. And that daisy…man, that daisy is the 60s, before it all went bad at Altamont. Hold it in your hand and recite a poem in your Nehru jacket, stick it in the rifle barrel of a National Guardsman at a peace demonstration, it’s flower power.

Or maybe, dude, maybe it’s just a flower and a wall and a photograph taken for a project. Maybe it’s not a time machine, and maybe it’s not the marriage of high art and low comedy. But dude, maybe it could be. Couldn’t it? I mean, look at it.
