It’s difficult to tell if this house was painted by a madman or a genius. It could easily have been painted by a person so totally out of touch with reality that painting the exterior of a house such a retina-shattering shade of blue seemed perfectly logical. Or it could just as easily have been painted by a man wearing rimless glasses on his elegantly shaved head, a man with twin Ph.D.s in Art and Semiotics from a university in Finland who had purely aesthetic reasons to paint his house a color that would be visible from space.
In either case, this was no accident. The color of this house is a statement, a statement by a person with a long career of being the weirdest person in the room, regardless of the location of that room in time or space. Not just being the weirdest person in the room, but being comfortable in that position. The color of this house is an announcement: If you elect to approach this house for whatever reason, you should be aware that the people inside it have chosen to live in a house of this singular color and be prepared to deal with the reality of that.
I love this house and the person(s) who painted it. This house disrupts normality in an organic way, in the same way stones in a brook disrupt the flow of water, and with the same unexpected musicality. Madness, genius…flip a coin. Or don’t bother to flip one; it makes no difference. The house will be the same. After seeing this house, the same may not be true of you.
