Day 140 – 10 Feb

I suppose it shouldn’t be such a big deal. People have babies every day. Worldwide, there’s a baby born every four seconds. That’s nearly 250 babies every minute. How could another baby possibly be considered even remotely special?

Well…just look at those faces. Clearly, this won’t be just another baby. This will be their baby. Not her baby, not his. Theirs. Twenty-three chromosomes from her, twenty-three from him. No other baby in the entire combustible world will have that particular genetic mix. How could this baby be considered special? How could it not be considered special?

In four and a half months a completely unique individual will enter the world. No other baby in the world will be like this baby. That the same could be said of the baby born four seconds before this one, and the baby born four seconds after this one, is irrelevant. We’re talking about this baby. Their baby. That completely and wonderfully special baby.
