You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore.
You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days.
Ay, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.
But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.

There’s a reason our old Lebanese friend is quoted at a thousand-thousand weddings; there’s a reason many of his words have become clichés, without becoming banal. You may sigh when you hear these lines yet again, but you can’t deny that Khalil Gibran got something about the nature of love. Spaces in your togetherness, indeed.

May you all find as much love, space, wind, dancing, memory, and togetherness as you need today.
