This is the way things are. We live in a world of ambiguity and intense uncertainty. We don’t always know what’s going on. We can’t know what other people are thinking. We don’t always understand our own behavior. By the time we attempt to impose some narrative sense on the situation, the situation is already in the past.

All our most important decisions are made based on imperfect information. Much of the time we’re adrift in an untidy cloud of perplexity. Yet we keep moving…we have to keep moving as if we know which way is forward. As if there actually is a forward.

This is the way things are. This is how life unfolds. This is life without a script. This is the way things are and always have been. Just like this.
