the white flowers

Cut flowers in a simple glass vase on a table. There are few things more discretely civilized, few things more ineffably gratifying. The entire ambience of the room shifts subtly with the presence of flowers. It’s not just the scent, not just the innate beauty of the blossoms; it’s the idea of flowers in the house.

Bringing flowers into the house will neither solve your problems nor improve your life circumstances, but it will lift and gladden your heart. It’s an inherently buoyant act. It’s an expression of faith that the existence of beauty…organic, irrepressible beauty…is enough in and of itself to change how you feel about the world around you.

And the faith is always borne out.
