reading in the backyard

It’s never too early to set aside the cares of the day and curl up (or stretch out) on a warm wooden chair under the sweet caress of the summer sun, with a book that’s bigger than you.

It’s never too early to imagine you are someone, something, someplace else, with a different voice, a different shape, and a very different purpose in life.

It’s never too early to become a life-long reader. And—if you’re contemplating grabbing a book yourself this afternoon and heading out into the grass and August heat to sit a spell and fall under a spell—remember that it’s never too late, either.
