As an adult, I am completely in favor of bathing (I figured I should let you know), yet in my childhood years, getting me into a bath tub was something of a challenge because it interrupted my regular schedule of climbing things and getting dirty. My mother and I had a deal: I would stay in the water for five minutes, but beyond that, I wasn’t making any promises. Once in the tub, however, I was easily distracted by the world of bathwater and soap bubbles and the magic things I could do to my hair if I got enough shampoo in it. So it happened that I usually didn’t get back out of the tub until I was tired, waterlogged, and ready for bed.
I tell you this because the instant I saw this photograph, I smiled a smile of recognition. And then I smiled just because. Bath time truly is fun time. And every once in awhile, we should remember the joy of giant shampoo spikes in our hair.
