Happy Super Bowl

You might never have been a sports fan in your life (I’m not). You might have fallen asleep three times the one time you tried to make it through an entire football game on TV (I did). You might believe hot dogs, beer, and burgers are the only redeeming qualities of going to a game in person (I do.)

Even so, when you’re zoomed in long and low like this, nose to the ground and watching the foot that’s gonna throw that first kick headed towards you like a force of nature, you’ve got to feel the thrill. You’ve got to understand that this is the beginning of something, the moment right before it all goes down: a humming mass of pent-up energy all across the field, all across the stadium, waiting for this, right here, to happen, so that it can become what it wants to become.

I do.

Happy 43rd Super Bowl. I hope it went your way.
