Disagreement
Kaddy
“Beautiful day, isn’t it?”
“Hm.”
“I said, beautiful day, isn’t it?”
“I said, hm.
“Well that’s not an answer.”
“It is too an answer.”
“No, an answer would be something like, ‘Yes, it sure is a beautiful day!’ That would’ve been an answer.”
“What, so now I have to agree with everything you say?”
“No, I’m not saying that. I’m just saying that it’s a beautiful day, and ‘hm’ seems like an inappropriate response.”
“You asked me my opinion, and my opinion is… hm.“
“That’s not an opinion, that’s a sound.”
“It’s a sound that sums up my opinion.”
“Oh, forgive me. I apologize for my inability to interpret what ‘hm’ means.”
“In this case, it means I don’t think it’s so great. It’s… cloudy.”
“What do you mean it’s not so great? It’s beautiful. It’s an empirical fact that today is a beautiful day.”
“Empirical fact? Have you done research? Can you show me data?”
“Um. Maybe.“
…
…
“If it’s a fact what do you need my opinion for?”
“I was just making conversation!”
“Well, don’t.”
“I won’t.”
“Good!”
“You always have to get the last word, don’t you?”
“Hm.”
