late to the party
Today I will—
—climb a tree to get a higher education.
—walk around cross-eyed to expand my horizons.
—sing off-key to discover never-before-heard musical notes.
—put one hand in my pocket and pretend I’m Alanis Morissette.
—look under things to see what isn’t readily seen.
—wave to strangers like Queen Elizabeth in her carriage.
—save a little bit of my lunch to feed to the squirrels.
—act like I’m late to the party so everywhere I go I can make an entrance.
—carry an umbrella to hide my smile.
