girl in my spam folder

What’s her story, the girl in my spam folder? How did she come to this? Did she agree to have her photo sent out anonymously and randomly to who knows how many strangers on the internet? How does she feel about it? Is she humilated? Or pleased about making a sound business decision?

Each question leads to another, and to another, and I am eventually left to wonder why I’m concerned about the welfare and happiness of a person whose existence was unknown to me until a few moments earlier when I decided to clean out my spam folder. And yet I am. I see something unidentifiable in that Rorschach face, something that seizes my imagination and I hope she’s okay, I hope she’s happy, I hope she’s taking care of herself and eating the right things.

It occurs to me that I may not be her intended target audience. But maybe I should be. I close the email and before hitting the Delete button, I hesitate a moment.
