The 10 cent designer

carrying the wine and aquavit

It seems at times she has slipped the very bonds of gravity, that she has liberated herself from the invisible chains of spacetime curvature. She floats above the surface of the earth on a cushion of delight, powered primarily by a smile. This isn’t the mystical levitation of a yogi deep in meditation, nor the ecstatic rapture of St. Catherine of Sienna at prayer. And despite the aquavit and wine, it certainly isn’t the sensation of flight sparked by intoxication.

This is something more elementary, something simpler. And because of that, it’s something all the more wondrous. She is lifted up by the grace of simple happiness.

And she always lifts us with her.
