Cats are indifferent to human eccentricity.
If a dog saw a human stand on the toilet seat, it would assume either something was terribly terribly wrong or, more likely, that the human wanted to play. A cat sees nothing unusual in the behavior. It is, in fact, a rather cat-like thing to do. The cat, if it can be bothered to give the behavior any thought at all, is more likely to wonder why you’ve never stood on the toilet seat before. To get a cat’s attention you have to do something of deep compelling interest to the cat.
Like find a piece of string. Or operate a can opener.
