Flea markets are fascinating places, full to overflowing with all kinds of things that you might never imagine wanting to buy, and yet when you see them there, for sale, they have the strangest allure. “I don’t really need hockey skates,” you might say while passing a vendor stall, “but I wonder if anyone I know could use them.” Or perhaps, “I don’t really need an animal skull, but I bet I could use it for decorating or something. Maybe.” When you’re ready to go home, and you have to figure out how to pack into your car old suitcases, a few beaded necklaces, hockey skates, a skull and a couple of wicker chairs you found later in the day (you could put them on your patio! you don’t really have a patio!) and you think about how at least you got some of your holiday shopping taken care of already (perhaps Mom would like some wicker chairs?), you might suffer a moment of buyers’ remorse if it weren’t for the fact that you really did get such fantastic deals on everything you never imagined needing in the first place. Flea markets are fascinating, and they get you every time.
